Since immemorial time, man has always been driven by greed for power. This has only resulted in devastation and destruction. Innocent people’s lives have been destroyed just for the sake of politics whether it’s within a country or between countries.
That is what’s currently happening. The U.S. and South Korea recently performed their annual military exercises, which they both claim is training for defensive purposes. However, North Korea is adamant, stating that these two countries are planning for war.
Because of this, North Korea has threatened not only the U.S. and South Korea, but also the U.K. and Australia with war if provoked. On Saturday 26th August 2017, North Korea launched three short-range ballistic missiles from the North’s eastern coast.
Initially the U.S. Pacific Command had reported the failure of the three missiles. However, the report was later revised both by the U.S. Pacific Command and South Korea that there was no failure in the operation.
A week before the missile launching, U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson had praised North Korea for restraint in the weapons program. But due to the threat by North Korea, President Donald Trump has responded to unleash “fire and fury.” Together with South Korea, they are monitoring the actions of North Korea. Also, photographs of the North Korean leader Kim Jong Un were released showing him examining missile and missile-fuel components. The leader is encouraging his army to be ready to infiltrate and take over parts of South Korea.
It is left to be seen the outcome of this hostility because if the war starts then there will only be chaos and destruction which will benefit no one.
