Five Must Read Horror Authors This Halloween:
Recently, I found my new favorite horror writer. I was completely blown away by her style! Brother was the very first book of Ania Ahlborn’s that I ever read. This book will crawl under your skin and then attach itself to the very fiber of your being. It’ll fester and pick at your brain until it becomes a part of you. It’s a book I’ll never forget! Of all the horror novels I’ve read over the past year Brother took the cake. Because of this book, I’ve devoured several more of Ania’s books, including The Shuddering, The Neighbors, and The Bird Eater. Ania has a certain style. Her books are perfectly petrifying, and very well painted. She is hands down the number one horror writer to recommend this season!
Talk about sharp and creepy psychological books! Mark Edwards has quite the collection, including his bestseller The Magpies. It was released in 2013 and is still consistently pulling in an impressive amount of sales. If you are yet to read this book, then 2017 is the year to do it! Mark has also collaborated with Louise Voss, together they pull in one five star review after another. If you can’t make up your mind then don’t fret. Clearly, listing Stephen King as a seasonal must-read-horror author this year is a no brainer. He’s listed in several places every year, and for good reason. King is arguably one of the best horror writers of all time. His bestselling titles and decoration demand the respect and attention of readers across the globe, and has done so for many years. His work is even considered classics by many. He’s dedicated to his career, and has inspired writers and readers alike for decades. The former U.S President Barack Obama even recognized King with the Medal of Arts! But, this year leaves a different taste of horror in our mouths when it comes to Stephen King… Why? Because Cinema recently produced a remake of IT! This movie is huge! My personal plan is to re-read IT at least a week before Halloween so that the book is fresh in my brain, and commanding the attention of my thoughts. Then I’ll watch the new make of this movie Halloween night, as it will be released on DVD just in time! Can’t wait, can you?
Speaking of all time favorites and classics. Let’s talk about Clive Barker. In the 90’s Clive came out with his famous New York Times Bestselling Books Of Blood. Clive is also very well known for Hellraiser books as well as the Imajica series. His writing is the very meaning of creepy. If you want to have nightmares this year then it could possibly by a good time to revisit some work that is timeless, and will be adored by horror lovers for many more years to come.
What kind of Halloween would it be without a Witch story? Adriana Mather has three bone chilling novels, that revolve around the dark and creepy magic of witches. Each one is stuffed to the brim with uniquely haunted wonder. How To Hang A Witch is at the top of her title list. It became a New York Times Bestseller almost instantly! If you’re looking for a witch story this holiday season then definitely explore Adriana’s books!
