LGBT: A Historical Week In Palm Springs

The LBGT community made history this week in politics, there were four members in Palm Springs sworn in. The ground-breaking members are Lisa Middleton, the first transgender person elected to a non-judicial office in California; and Christy Holstege, an attorney who identifies as bisexual were sworn into Palm Springs city council.

Middleton’s resume is long, a former board member of the Desert Horticulture Society of the Coachella Valley, LGBT Community Center of the Desert, Equality California and Neighborhoods USA. Holstege  an attorney that focuses on workers’ rights, housing and disabilities, a Palm Springs Human Rights commissioner and a Palm Springs Homelessness Task Force member.

Now they join mayor Moon, who has been actively serving Palm Springs since 2015.Councilman Geoff Kors, who’s been serving as a Palm Springs Unified School Board member since 2000.Councilman J.R. Roberts has been serving since 2000 as well.

Great news for the LGBT community!
